Is It Possible To Find Deleted Posts On Twitter?
Well, it’s quite possible to recover deleted tweets from Twitter. If you have recently posted a tweet that was deleted then you must know what was written in it. You can simply retweet it. However, if you have forgotten what was written in the Tweet then no need to worry because there is not one but multiple options to recover it. I am going to discuss all the methods one by one.
Can You See Old Tweets From A Deleted Account?
Yes, you can find old tweets from deleted as well as suspended Twitter accounts. You can make use of Google Cache to search for deleted tweets. I will discuss this method in detail in the later part of the article.
However, if your account is deleted then you must try to recover your Twitter account first. If you are able to restore your deleted or suspended account, all your tweets will be recovered automatically.
How To Recover Deleted Tweets?
1. Find Tweets On Twitter From Archive
To find tweets on Twitter you can make use of its Archive feature. To use this feature you can follow the below steps.
- Log into your Twitter account and go to the More option on the left control panel. Now choose the Settings and Privacy option.
- Under Your account, click on Download an archive of your data.
- It will either ask you to enter your password or will send a code to your phone number to confirm it’s you.
- Next, select the Request archive option.
With this, Twitter will create an archive of your account, this process may take some time. It takes a minimum of 24 hours and a maximum of 2-3 days.
Once the archive is ready, you will receive an email with a download link. Click on the link and the archive folder will download on your device. Extract the zip folder, and open the HTML file which contains all your account data. Here you can see deleted tweets. Not just text but you can also recover deleted Twitter photos and videos that you have attached with your tweets.
2. Find Someone’s Deleted Tweets Using Wayback Machine
The Wayback Machine is an internet database that keeps a log of all the webpages available on the Internet including Twitter. It basically takes you to the older version of the webpage. This means it can take you to your Twitter profile before the tweet you are looking for was deleted.
All you have to do is go to the Wayback Machine website and paste in the profile URL of the Twitter account whose tweets you want to find. This can be your account or even someone else’s if you want to find other people’s deleted tweets. After entering the profile URL, click on BROWSE HISTORY.
Next, you will see the timeline with blue, green, and orange dots on some of the dates. These dots means that the Wayback Machine captured a screenshot of the webpage on that particular date.
To retrieve a deleted tweet, simply select a date prior to the date when the tweet was deleted. This way you can see deleted tweets of someone or your own very easily.
3. See Deleted Tweets Using Google Cache
Whenever you tweet something, apart from Twitter it also gets indexed in Google search results. This means someone can read the tweets on Google itself.
If the tweet gets deleted from Twitter, you may find its copy in Google Cache. This is the best way to see old tweets from deleted accounts on Twitter.
Follow these steps to find someone’s old tweet:
- Go to Google and search for the Tweet you were looking for.
- Once you find the tweet you were looking for click on the three dots icon at the end of the Tweet URL. A new tab will open, click on Cached.
- As soon as you do that, a cached version of the tweet will open.
This way you can easily recover old deleted tweets.
How To Prevent Tweets From Getting Deleted?
Although recovery of deleted Twitter posts or tweets is possible, it is always a time-consuming process. Moreover, there is no surety that you will see the tweets all the time. Therefore to be on the safer side, you must keep a backup of your valuable tweets.
To back up your tweets you can copy-paste your text and for videos and photos, you can have a dedicated backup folder on your computer or cell phone (Android or iPhone).
By doing this, you can always refer to your backup folder whenever your tweets are deleted and retweet your text, photo, and video with your followers.
Retrieve Deleted Twitter Posts: Final Verdict
Recovering deleted Twitter posts is possible. But it’s better you have a backup of your tweets (texts, photos, and videos) which you think are very important.
